You can't get Lean without first being Reliable!
At the same time that production improvement initiatives such as Lean demand greater Reliability from our equipment and processes, they also require that we do so at a lower cost than in the past. In other words, the Maintenance organization must also become lean! This is especially a challenge for companies in which the Maintenance Process is thought of more as an "event", (...the machine breaks down... Poof! Maintenance appears, fixes the problem. Poof! They are gone). In these cases there is little more they can do to become "Leaner" than to reduce the labor force itself (sometimes to Operations), reduce maintenance MRO, or cut other costs.
Maintenance Process Solutions allow the Maintenance organization to become Lean by optimizing the process of how Maintenance is done. They focus on improving the process of how the Maintenance organizations provide reliability to the plant or site.
